The Commons-Publishing-OpenEdition template file lets you to prepare the document before importing it into Lodel.
Downloading the template file #
Download the Commons-Publishing-OpenEdition template from the following address: https://git.unicaen.fr/fnso/i-fair-ir/modeles-stylage/-/blob/master/MS_Word/OpenEdition/Commons-publishing-OpenEdition.dotm.
This template file includes automatic correction tools that you can use once you have finished styling the document.
Installing the template file #
The Commons-Publishing-OpenEdition template is compatible with Word 2016 and newer versions.
The first step is to add the template to the Templates folder on your computer.
You only need to do this once for each computer. However, if you change computer or install a newer version of Word, you will need to do this operation again.
Copy the Commons-Publishing-OpenEdition template file and paste it into the Word template folder at the following location:
~/Users/Library/GroupContainers/UBF8T346G9.Office/User Content/Templates

| Once you have opened the Library folder, you can drag the library icon from the top of the window down to the Dock, the Favourites section in the Finder sidebar or the toolbar to access it more easily in the future. Tip 2 |
| If the Templates folder does not exist, you can create it manually in the User Content folder. |
Attaching the template file
The first time you open a document for styling, you need to attach the Commons-Publishing-OpenEdition template file to it.
- Open the document in Microsoft Word
- Click on Tools
- Click on Templates and Add-ins
→ A Templates and Add-ins dialogue box opens - Click on Attach
→ An Attach Template dialogue box opens - Select the Commons-Publishing-OpenEdition template file in the Library folder (if it is greyed out, you can still click on it)
- Click on Open
- Check the Automatically update document styles box
- Click on OK
→ A new Commons tab has now been added to the Microsoft Word ribbon
The template file has been attached to the document.

Configuring your work environment #
Click on Commons, then on * Start to set the parameters for your work environment. This operation enables you to indicate that the document comes from OpenEdition, and add a template version to it.
Clicking on * Start also enables you to automatically view:
- The draft version and corresponding style area
- Hidden characters
- The footnote section at the bottom of the page
